About the role:
A growing E&S insurance organization is re-launching its Business Development search—with a focus on emerging talent ready to step into a relationship-driven, outward-facing role. This position is ideal for someone 5–7 years into their insurance career who has built a solid foundation in commercial lines underwriting, inside sales, marketing, or brokerage support and is now eager to get out from behind the desk, build relationships, and learn the business development side of the E&S market. You’ll be coached and supported by senior leadership while gaining exposure to retail agents, wholesale brokers, and E&S distribution partners across the country..
Duties and responsibilities:
Call on retail agents, wholesale brokers, and select producer partners to build awareness of the company’s E&S products and underwriting appetite.
Travel to producer offices and industry events to develop relationships and identify small-to-mid-size commercial account opportunities.
Partner closely with Underwriting and Marketing to communicate market feedback, submission quality insights, and product needs.
Participate in industry conferences (e.g., WSIA), assisting with scheduled meetings, follow-ups, and relationship development activities.
Represent the organization with professionalism, curiosity, energy, and a strong desire to learn.
Experience:
Bachelor’s degree required (Business, Insurance, Marketing, Economics, or related field).
3–4 years of experience in commercial lines insurance; E&S exposure strongly preferred.
Someone currently in underwriting, inside marketing, account management, or brokerage support who wants a more external role.
Understanding of commercial insurance products and basic underwriting concepts.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Comfortable meeting new people and building professional relationships.
Organized, curious, and proactive.
Willingness to travel regularly.
Compensation:
