An established and growing insurance carrier is searching for a Commercial Underwriting Manager to build and lead its commercial auto underwriting division, supporting the company’s expansion across the Southeast. This hybrid role (3 days/week in a Class A office setting in Atlanta’s Galleria area) is ideal for someone who brings deep expertise in commercial auto, an appetite for process innovation, and the leadership skills to mentor a growing team.

Department from scratch — You’ll be the architect of a modern, tech-enabled commercial underwriting operation. Smart growth strategy — Focused on profitable contractor fleet business (think electricians, plumbers). Regional expansion — Currently active in AL and GA, with SC and TN launching soon and FL coming in 2026. A high-impact team — Direct leadership of 2–3 underwriters, with the opportunity to grow the team as the region scales.

7+ years experience commercial auto underwriting, with at least 3 years in management. Have deep knowledge of small fleet contractor risks and experience with BOP or GL lines as a bonus. Excel at building guidelines, processes, and tools from the ground up. Understand how to work cross-functionally with tech, product, and sales. Are excited by automation, decision support tools, and predictive analytics to elevate underwriting. Know how to mentor underwriters and build a culture of accountability, performance, and growth.
