Our client, a highly respected and financially stable Property & Casualty insurance carrier with a long-standing reputation for underwriting excellence, is seeking a Senior Commercial Lines Underwriter to join its growing Middle Market team. This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced commercial underwriter who enjoys balancing technical underwriting with agency development and profitable portfolio management. You'll work with independent agencies to underwrite complex Middle Market accounts while partnering closely with distribution, claims, loss control, customer service, and leadership to achieve long-term success.

Underwrite and manage a profitable Middle Market Commercial Lines portfolio. Evaluate new and renewal business, analyzing exposures, loss history, coverage needs. Handle larger and more complex commercial accounts, including those requiring reinsurance support. Monitor book performance, identifying opportunities to improve growth, profitability, and book quality. Partner with distribution teams to strengthen agency relationships. Conduct agency visits and become a trusted underwriting resource for independent agents. Participate in underwriting referrals, authority reviews, and strategic underwriting initiatives.

4+ years of Commercial Lines underwriting experience. Experience underwriting Middle Market commercial accounts. Strong technical knowledge of Commercial Property & Casualty coverages. Ability to evaluate complex risks, identify exposures, and make profitable underwriting decisions. Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities with independent agency partners. Professional designations such as CPCU, AU, ARM, or progress toward designation are a plus.
