A fast-growing, technology-forward program administrator is expanding its underwriting leadership team and seeking a Commercial Insurance Underwriting Manager to play a critical role in scaling a modern small business insurance platform. This organization is redefining how small commercial risks are underwritten—leveraging data, technology, and disciplined underwriting to support admitted and non-admitted commercial multi-peril products nationwide. This is a high-impact leadership position for an underwriting professional who enjoys building teams, driving consistency, and operating at the intersection of underwriting, operations, and growth. As the Commercial Insurance Underwriting Manager, you will lead the day-to-day execution of underwriting operations while serving as a hands-on leader and escalation point for complex risks. You’ll play a key role in strengthening underwriting standards, improving workflows, and supporting new product and jurisdictional expansion—particularly within hospitality and food service risks. The role is fully remote, with occasional travel for company meetings and industry events.

Lead daily underwriting operations, ensuring quality, consistency, and service-level performance. Serve as escalation point for complex and non-standard commercial risks. Conduct underwriting file audits and ongoing quality reviews; identify trends and improvement opportunities. Ensure underwriting decisions align with guidelines, regulatory requirements, and capacity partner expectations. Help evolve underwriting workflows, controls, and processes as new products and programs launch.

5+ years of commercial underwriting experience; hospitality/food service exposure ideal. E&S underwriting experience strongly preferred. Experience reviewing, auditing, or overseeing underwriting files for quality and compliance. Prior people management or strong mentorship/leadership experience. Comfortable operating in a fast-changing, growth-stage environment.
