About the role:
We’re partnering with an established, financially strong Property & Casualty insurance organization seeking a Director, Financial Reporting to lead its financial reporting and accounting operations. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for an insurance accounting professional who enjoys combining technical accounting expertise, hands-on operational leadership, people management, and process improvement. Reporting directly to the VP, Controller, this individual will play a key role in strengthening the finance function, improving systems and processes, and supporting the company’s continued growth.
Duties and responsibilities:
Lead the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process. Oversee balance sheet reconciliations, intercompany activity, bank and cash accounting, AP, expenses. Prepare, review, and oversee financial reporting deliverables while ensuring strong accounting controls. Support P&C statutory accounting, regulatory reporting, and financial filings. Partner with external auditors on audit requests, documentation, walkthroughs, and issue resolution. Identify opportunities for automation, process improvement, and financial systems enhancements. Help strengthen internal controls across key financial and insurance systems. Support the organization through ongoing financial systems modernization and ERP-related initiatives.
Experience:
8+ years of progressive accounting experience. Direct, hands-on P&C insurance accounting and financial reporting experience. Experience with P&C statutory reporting and regulatory filings. Strong knowledge of both GAAP and statutory accounting. Demonstrated ownership of the full accounting close process. Experience overseeing reconciliations, intercompany accounting, cash, AP, and other operational accounting functions. At least 2 years of direct people-management experience. Strong understanding of financial controls and audit processes. ERP, financial systems, automation, or process-improvement experience. Bachelor’s degree required; CPA is strongly preferred.
Compensation:
$170,000 to $190,000+ 15% bonus. Competitive benefits
