I’m partnering with a well-established property & casualty insurance organization seeking a Director of Internal Audit for a newly created, highly visible role working directly with executive leadership and the Board. This is not a traditional internal audit leadership position. The right person will have a seat at the table, significant autonomy, and the opportunity to help shape how internal audit, enterprise risk management, governance, and continuous improvement work together.

Liaison with the external audit partner, overseeing audit scope, quality, deliverables, findings, and follow-through. Prepare and deliver high-impact presentations on audit outcomes, deficiencies, emerging risks, and remediation plans. Identify control gaps, challenge existing processes, develop remediation plans. Improve processes, develop dashboards, leverage data and modeling, and explore opportunities involving automation, AI governance, and business transformation.

Property & Casualty or Excess & Surplus insurance experience. Strong internal audit and/or public accounting experience, with the ability to evaluate controls, identify deficiencies, and drive meaningful remediation. Experience managing external partners and overseeing audit work. Executive presence and exceptional presentation skills, including the ability to communicate complex issues clearly to Board-level audiences. Experience with enterprise risk management, governance, data analysis, modeling, process development, or business transformation. CPA, CIA, or CISA certification is preferred. Familiarity with the NAIC Model Audit Rule and related regulatory requirements is also valuable.
