About the role:
Leading privately held property & casualty AM Best “A” rated carriers. Focused on profitable growth through superior underwriting as well as providing an exceptional work culture for their ever-expanding team of highly talented staff. We seek an experienced Home Office Claim Examiner to serve as a key technical advisor and claims authority across its national commercial P&C portfolio. In this role, you'll oversee high-exposure general liability matters, offer expert coverage and litigation guidance, and drive claims quality across the organization.
Duties and responsibilities:
Review and guide serious injury and high-value damage losses handled by field claims teams. Serve as a strategic advisor for pre-trial notices, policy limit demands, and complex coverage matters. Maintain oversight of large loss activity, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance. Review and approve reserves and payments above local office authority. Collaborate with field offices to uphold best practices, elevate quality, and support coverage decisions. Handle select complex claims directly, ensuring resolution aligns with carrier expectations. Provide timely and accurate reinsurance reporting for qualifying losses. Participate in the Loss Review Committee and Home Office QA reviews.
Experience:
10+ years of experience in commercial property/casualty claims with a focus on general liability. Strong ability to analyze high-severity claims and guide resolution within defined authority. Clear, concise communicator — both written and verbal — with excellent drafting and review skills. Skilled in coverage interpretation, litigation oversight, and reinsurance reporting protocols. Collaborative and analytical with an eye for quality and accuracy. A passion for improving claims outcomes through leadership, mentorship, and best practice alignment.
Compensation:
$80,000 to $88,000. Bonus, Benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), flexible spending, short-term and long-term disability insurance, life insurance, long-term care, paid parental leave, vacation and other paid time off.
