We are seeking an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to lead in-house legal and claims defense strategy. Duties and responsibilities:
Direct and manage complex litigation and coverage matters across multiple states. Deliver coverage opinions, litigation strategy, and negotiate high-stakes settlements. Act as a trusted advisor to claims leadership, helping avoid excess losses and mitigate legal exposure. Lead internal reviews of pre-litigation and litigated matters with a focus on claims strategy and defense cost containment. Mentor legal staff and manage outside counsel relationships. Stay ahead of legal/regulatory trends and bad faith risk.
Experience:
JD + 7+ years’ experience in insurance defense, coverage counsel, or high-stakes claims litigation. Strong record of negotiating complex auto claims and guiding litigation to favorable outcomes. Experience working directly with claim departments, policy interpretation, and loss mitigation. Leadership experience—mentoring, supervising legal professionals, managing workflows. Ability to distill and communicate complex legal strategy to non-legal stakeholders.
Compensation:
