This is an opportunity to step into a high-impact leadership role where strong accounting, disciplined controls, and data-driven insights directly support a mission-driven organization. As Manager of Accounts Payable, you’ll own the end-to-end AP function, lead a talented team, and modernize processes that ensure accuracy, compliance, and operational excellence across a complex, multi-entity environment. This role is hybrid and requires local presence in the New Haven, CT area.
Duties and responsibilities:
Own the full AP lifecycle: invoice processing, payment runs, expense reimbursements, and accruals. Lead, mentor, and develop AP analysts and specialists, fostering accountability and growth. Make recommendations on hiring, performance management, and team development. Design, implement, and maintain strong AP controls aligned with accounting standards and regulatory requirements. Oversee IRS reporting (1099 & 1042), Connecticut sales tax reporting, and quarterly/year-end AP accruals. Support audits by preparing documentation and responding to auditor inquiries. Build, monitor, and analyze AP KPIs and operational metrics to drive accuracy, efficiency, and insight. Identify process gaps and lead system-driven improvements, including workflow automation. Maintain accurate records, reconciliations, and aging schedules; ensure timely vendor payments. Manage vendor relationships and resolve complex billing, receipt, or costing issues.
Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (CPA or CMA preferred). 5–7+ years of Accounts Payable experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role. Strong understanding of accounting principles, AP best practices, and internal controls. Demonstrated ability to design and interpret KPIs and operational metrics. Experience with enterprise financial systems (SAP exposure strongly preferred). Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Familiarity with automated AP tools and workflow systems. Highly organized, detail-oriented, and deadline-driven.
Compensation:
$90,000 to $120,000 base. Competitive benefits
