I’m working with a fast-growing, technology-driven specialty insurance organization that is looking to add experienced Recreational Marine Underwriting talent to its team. This is not a traditional P&C underwriting environment. The organization is focused specifically on boat and yacht insurance and is combining deep marine expertise with modern technology, and a more streamlined underwriting experience.

Evaluate and underwrite recreational marine risks, including pleasure boats, fishing vessels, sailboats, yachts, and other watercraft. Review new business and renewal submissions, analyzing vessel characteristics, usage, navigation territory, owner/operator experience, loss history, values, and other relevant risk factors. Develop and maintain strong relationships with independent agents, brokers, and marine distribution partners. Provide underwriting guidance to agents and brokers, including clarification of appetite, coverage requirements, risk characteristics, and submission quality. Collaborate with claims, product, operations, technology, and leadership teams to improve underwriting processes and the overall customer and agent experience. Use available data, analytics, and technology tools to support risk selection, pricing, workflow efficiency, and portfolio management. Stay current on recreational marine market trends, vessel types, loss trends, regulatory considerations, and competitive conditions.
