A financially strong and steadily growing life insurance carrier is seeking an accomplished Senior Life Underwriter to step into a key succession planning role. This is a rare chance to run the domestic underwriting function now while being mentored into a broader leadership position that will include international business responsibilities. This position offers direct, hands-on training from the company’s Head Underwriter, providing a unique runway to broaden your expertise into cross-border underwriting.

Lead domestic life underwriting operations, analyzing applications and assessing risk based on medical, financial, and other standard underwriting factors. Train in international life underwriting, learning the nuances of global risk assessment. Interpret and evaluate MIB codes, review EKGs, and determine case acceptability within approval authority. Collaborate with internal departments and producers to resolve underwriting questions and improve workflow. Refer cases to reinsurers as needed and ensure treaty compliance.

5+ years of life underwriting experience with a solid grasp of both medical and financial risk assessment. EKG interpretation certification and current approval authority up to $250K. Knowledge of life insurance back-office operations a plus. Bilingual in Spanish/English preferred but not required. Strong underwriting philosophy and decision-making skills.
