ABOUT THE ROLE A financially strong and expanding Property & Casualty insurance organization is seeking a Transportation Underwriting Manager to lead underwriting operations for a rapidly growing Final Mile Delivery program. This is a highly visible leadership role reporting directly to executive leadership and offers the opportunity to influence underwriting strategy, portfolio performance, team development, and future program growth. The organization has invested heavily in expansion initiatives and views this program as a key component of its long-term growth strategy.

Underwrite and approve large, complex transportation accounts. Evaluate operational exposures, fleet composition, driver quality, loss history, and safety performance. Determine appropriate pricing, coverage structure, deductibles, and underwriting terms. Provide technical guidance and referral support to underwriting team members. Lead, mentor, and develop a growing underwriting and customer service team. Manage workflow, service standards, and underwriting efficiency. Identify opportunities to improve underwriting processes and operational effectiveness. Analyze portfolio performance, growth trends, loss ratios, rate adequacy, and profitability metrics. Identify underperforming segments and implement corrective actions. Refine underwriting appetite and risk segmentation strategies based on performance results. Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements, internal controls, and underwriting authority guidelines. Support form, rate, and product updates in collaboration with compliance and product teams. Assist with audit preparation, regulatory inquiries, and underwriting governance initiatives.

Transportation underwriting experience within an insurance carrier, MGA, or program administrator environment. Strong understanding of commercial trucking and transportation risks. Experience underwriting or managing transportation portfolios with meaningful premium responsibility. Final Mile Delivery experience is highly desirable. Prior leadership, mentoring, or team management experience.

$110,000 + 15% bonus. Competitive benefits
